Wegmans Food Markets continues support of Popular Entertainment Series by funding Krauss performance

For two decades, Wegmans Food Markets has sponsored annual concerts at Chautauqua Institution, including performances in recent years from Jennifer Nettles to Sheryl Crow. Thanks to the continued partnership, Alison Krauss will perform at 8:15 p.m. Saturday June 23 in the Amphitheater.

Chautauqua Institution “promotes excellence and creativity in the appreciation, performance and teaching of the arts,” according to its mission statement. Wegmans Food Markets shares the same value.

“We really believe that the arts play a very important role in the mission of lifelong learning at Chautauqua,” said Elizabeth Lingenfelter, store manager of Wegmans Food Markets, Jamestown. “We’re just honored to be able to play a small role inthat.”

Across a 30-year career,Krauss has accumulated 27 Grammy Awards, making her the most-awarded female artist in Grammy history. Her work has helped keep interest in the bluegrass genre alive in the United States, and she shows no signs of leaving the industry any time soon.
