Brown Bag lunch focuses on ‘Love’s Labour’s Lost’

Audience members planning to see Chautauqua Theater Company’s production of William Shakespeare’s “Love’s Labour’s Lost” can get an inside look during this afternoon’s Brown Bag lunch.

Artistic Director Vivienne Benesch said today’s event will be a “full-cast experience” that will include the play’s director, Ethan McSweeny, 14 conservatory members, four designers and three guest actors.

Decoding Shakespeare to overcome apprehension

Many people approach William Shakespeare’s plays apprehensively because they find the text difficult to interpret. This is precisely why Fred Zirm is working to decode the Bard’s language this week in a Special Studies course “Shakespeare Fast and Easy: Love’s Labour’s Lost.”

With Chautauqua Theater Company opening Shakespeare’s “Love’s Labour’s Lost” on Thursday, Zirm said he felt it was the perfect time to teach adults about Shakespearean text.

‘No evil angel but love’

Stage Paws: Fuzzy faces add a canine element to CTC family

Among this season’s actors, directors, carpenters and others who make up Chautauqua Theater Company are several that don’t take human form. They don’t recite lines, sew costumes or build sets, but these four-legged members of the company play a daily role in the lives of CTC. These are the dogs of Chautauqua Theater Company, and they spend a lot of time at the Brawdy Theater Studios with their human counterparts.

CTC takes show on the road in producing ‘Amadeus’ in Virginia

Games Brown Bag lets CTC conservatory members play

Chautauqua Theater Company conservatory members will spend this afternoon’s Brown Bag lunch playing a variety of games onstage at Bratton Theater. The lunch, which begins at 12:15 p.m. today, is called “Brown Bag lunch: Games, Actors, Play” and requires that actors literally spend time playing.
