CPOA area representatives to host community picnics today

From 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, the Chautauqua Property Owners Association encourages everyone to join their neighbors by attending the picnic being hosted in their respective area. The 10 areas within the Institution are hosting eight separate picnics that will include food, conversation and entertainment.

“Each picnic is different based on the spirit of the area and what the representative has organized,” said Carrie Zachry, Area 10 representative and events committee chair for the CPOA.

The combined picnic for Areas 5 and 6 will feature a live local band and the combined picnic for Areas 1 and 2 will host Young Artists from the Chautauqua Opera Company.

The CPOA and the area representatives are interested in meeting the residents in their areas and hearing their concerns and interests in the community. The area picnics have been hosted by the CPOA for the last 20 years and the current area representatives are excited to continue the tradition.

“The purpose of these picnics is to build community and provide a time for neighbors to gather, visit and get to know their area representatives,” Zachry said.

Fliers were distributed over the last week to describe what kind of food the visitors should bring based on which picnic will be hosted in their area. The picnics, however, are not just for homeowners or renters — visitors to the grounds are welcome to stop in as well.

Area 6 Representative Suzanne Shull encouraged everyone to become involved in the picnic.

“It’s a great way to connect with your neighbors, begin to recognize each other and foster a sense of community,” she said.
