DFT Communications underwrites FES Young Playwrights performances

For the sixth year running, DFT Communications, Partners in Technology will be sponsoring events in the Family Entertainment Series, including the “Chautauqua Theater Company: Young Playwrights!” performances, which kick off the series at  5 and 7 p.m. tonight in Smith Wilkes Hall.

“DFT is proud to partner with Chautauqua Institution to bring quality family programs to Chautauqua County and the surrounding region,” said Mark Maytum, president and chief operating officer of DFT Communications, Partners in Technology.

CTC’s Young Playwrights! night will showcase 14 winning plays from local elementary schools that were written by students during the 2016-2017 academic year.

DFT is also sponsoring a performance by the Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet at 6 p.m. on Aug. 15 in Elizabeth S. Lenna Hall. These events are part of a free series of shows held on Tuesday evenings that offer a variety of family-friendly, fun and interactive entertainment.

“The events in the free Family Entertainment Series are popular with families who are spending the week at the Institution as well as families who live in Chautauqua County year-round, especially on an evening that celebrates the talent of local elementary students,” Maytum said.

DFT Communications was founded more than 119 years ago by Arthur R. Maytum, and continues to be owned and operated by the Maytum family.

“It’s wonderful to see these types of community events being offered and we encourage all of our employees and their families to attend as many events as possible,” Maytum said. “We value our partnership with Chautauqua Institution and I hope people of all ages will take advantage of these unique performances in such a beautiful setting.”

Community members can request a complimentary pass from the Main Gate Welcome Center will call window to attend these free performances.
