Recitals with Rossen featuring Maja Bogdanovic and Daniel Rowland
Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra Music Director hosts Dutch–English violinist Daniel Rowland and Serbian–French cellist Maja Bogdanovic for this week’s Recitals with Rossen at 5 p.m. EDT Thursday, July 30, on the CHQ Assembly Video Platform. Bogdanovic and Rowland have performed all over Europe and the world, including engagements with the Princeton Symphony Orchestra Chamber Series and the Festival Artes Vertentes international festival of the arts in Tiradentes, Brazil. CSO Rebroadcast of Stravinsky’s ‘The Rite of Spring’
At 8:15 p.m. EDT Thursday, July 30, on the CHQ Assembly Video Platform, the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra rebroadcasts its 2019 performance with the Music School Festival Orchestra, of Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring.”

School of Music violin master class with Ilya Kaler
At 3:30 p.m. EDT Thursday, July 30, on the CHQ Assembly Virtual Porch, the School of Music broadcasts a master class with Ilya Kaler, the only violinist in the world to win the Gold Medal at three of the world’s most prestigious international violin competitions: the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (1986), the Sibelius Competition in Helsinki (1985), and the Paganini Competition in Genoa (1981). Three Music School Festival Orchestra students will each perform a short work before a give-and-take discussion with Kaler. 

Week Five Post-lecture Conversations on the Virtual Porch
Following the morning’s Chautauqua Lecture Series program, join others at 12:30 p.m. EDT Thursday, July 30, on the CHQ Assembly Virtual Porch to discuss this week’s lectures on “The Women’s Vote Centennial and Beyond.” All are welcome. The conversation will be facilitated by Kimberly Hamlin, associate professor of history and American studies, at Miami University of Ohio.

Weekly Conversation with Michael Hill and Candy Maxwell
Chautauqua Institution President Michael E. Hill and Board of Trustees Chair Candy Maxwell will hold the fourth of nine weekly community webinars at 1 p.m. EDT Thursday, July 30, on the Virtual Porch. Log in to CHQ Assembly to register for the webinar. Thursday’s session will be “CHQ Assembly Feedback Session No. 2. Maxwell and Hill will respond to questions submitted during this Virtual Porch event.

Authors’ Hour
Chautauqua authors will read from their work 12:15 p.m. EDT every Thursday on Zoom during Weeks One through Nine. Find more information at www.chq.org/fcwc. The author Cloey Olkowski

Birkenstock enthusiast and lover of all things yellow, Cloey Olkowski is the office manager at the Daily. This will be Cloey’s fourth season at the Daily and 20th season at Chautauqua. A native of Buffalo, New York, she is a recent graduate of SUNY Oswego, where she majored in public relations with double minors in graphic design and psychology. Three seasons ago she placed second in the Old First Night Run/Walk and hopes to take home the virtual gold this season.
