Special Studies instructor Junker marks five decades of yoga instruction at Chautauqua

Since the Chautauqua Centennial, Kate Rice Junker has been teaching gentle yoga in the Special Studies program. That’s 50 years of helping people stretch their bodies and strengthen their muscles. Junker taught French for more than 30 years and developed her yoga practices alongside her teaching career. Kate taught yoga in the Hall of Philosophy during the Institution’s abridged, post-COVID-19 season in 2021, centering souls and bodies in the sacred space. More often, she teaches in the Marion Lawrance Room at Hurlbut Memorial Community United Methodist Church. Those who get into the class see a smiling face at 7:30 a.m. and leave feeling ready to meet the day.
