Twenty students representing the best rising talent from all across the globe will present the Chautauqua School of Music Piano Program Showcase at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Amphitheater, with a repertoire of works for one and two pianos drawn from virtuoso works of the great classical composers and arrangements of popular and familiar tunes.
Under the direction of Chair Nicola Melville and the 2024 Heintzelman Family Artistic Advisor Alexander Kobrin, the School of Music Piano Program is a highly selective and dynamic five-week program for 20 pianists, ages 18 to 28, who spend their time on the grounds learning from resident and guest faculty with unmatched practice and performance facilities.
In the coming days and weeks, students will have solo and chamber music performance opportunities, and 2024 marks the program’s turn to host the SAI Concerto Competition. But before all of that, after intensive rehearsals, it all starts Sunday in the Amp.
