Tim and Leslie Renjilian, co-chairs of Chautauqua Fund, are excited to sponsor Avett Brothers performance in the Amp

At 8:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, in the Amphitheater, the Avett Brothers will perform thanks to a sponsorship from co-chairs of the Chautauqua Fund Tim and Leslie Renjilian.

Tim and Leslie Renjilian have been coming to Chautauqua Institution for 18 years. In that time, the couple has worked as volunteers for the fund and sponsored programming such as the Lake Street Dive concert last season.

“(Sponsoring bands) is a really fun thing for us,” Tim Renjilian said. “(Lake Street Dive and Avett Brothers) are bands that we really like, so we’re excited to help bring them to Chautauqua because we really want to see them there, but also it’s really fun to share (their performance) with our friends and fellow Chautauquans.”

An American and folk rock band from North Carolina, the Avett Brothers have been active since 2000. Nine studio albums later, the band has made multiple appearances on the Billboard 200, including the album I and Love and You. They have also been nominated for three Grammy Awards since 2013.

“The last time the Avett Brothers were (at the Institution), it was an amazing show,” Tim Renjilian said. “It brought in people from all over the country (and) county, and I think it’s going to be more of the same this time. It should be really fun.”
