School of Music Voice Program Master Class Featuring Ben Moore
Join the School of Music Voice Program for a master class broadcast at 2 p.m. EDT Monday, Aug. 10, on the CHQ Assembly Virtual Porch. This week’s master class features American composer Ben Moore, whose works include art song, musical theatrer, cabaret, chamber music, choral music and opera.

Smith Memorial Library News
The Smith Memorial Library is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT on weekdays and from noon to 3 p.m. EDT on Saturdays. Capacity is limited, face coverings are required, and social distancing rules apply. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, and computers and office services are available on a limited basis. Enhanced sanitization and book-quarantine protocols are in place, and touchless browsing is encouraged. Safe return bins will be located throughout the Smith. Any transactions will be contact-free, and the preferred payment is exact change. While newspapers are currently unavailable, magazines may be checked out by request. In-person programs, meetings, and food and beverage sharing are not permitted. Remote services continue at and, or by calling 716-357-6296. 

Weekly Conversation with Michael Hill and Candy Maxwell
Chautauqua Institution President Michael E. Hill and Board of Trustees Chair Candy Maxwell will hold the seventh of nine weekly community webinars at 1 p.m. EDT Thursday, Aug. 13, on the CHQ Assembly Virtual Porch. Log in to CHQ Assembly to register for the webinar. Thursday’s session will be  “CHQ Assembly Feedback Session No. 3.” Maxwell and Hill will respond to questions submitted during this Virtual Porch event.

Chautauqua Women’s Club
At 3:30 p.m. EDT Tuesday, Aug. 11, on the CHQ Assembly Video Platform, NBC News and MSNBC’s politics senior editor Beth Fouhy will give her lecture, “Politics, Protests and a Pandemic: How the 2020 Election Has Been Transformed,” as part of the Chautauqua Women’s Club Virtual Contemporary Issues Forum Lecture Series. Following the lecture there will be a live Q-and-A.

Birkenstock enthusiast and lover of all things yellow, Cloey Olkowski is the office manager at the Daily. This will be Cloey’s fourth season at the Daily and 20th season at Chautauqua. A native of Buffalo, New York, she is a recent graduate of SUNY Oswego, where she majored in public relations with double minors in graphic design and psychology. Three seasons ago she placed second in the Old First Night Run/Walk and hopes to take home the virtual gold this season.
