Chautauqua Theater Company Brown Bag

At 12:15 p.m. EDT Tuesday, July 21, on the CHQ Assembly Virtual Porch, Chautauqua Theater Company hosts a Brown Bag Lecture on the second New Play Workshop of the season, Tomorrow Will Be Sunday (working title), by playwright Heather Raffo, directed by Jenny Koons. Chautauqua Lake Water Quality Research Panel
At 9:30 a.m. EDT Saturday, July 18, on the CHQ Assembly Virtual Porch, the Chautauqua Lake and Watershed Management Alliance sponsors a presentation featuring research findings regarding Chautauqua Lake Water quality. Presenters include Courtney Wigdahl-Perry and MaryAnn Mason of State University of New York at Fredonia discussing “Thermal Stratification and Implications for Internal P Loading & Drone Surveillance of HABs;” George Bullerjahn, Timothy Davis and Jay DeMarco of Bowling Green State University on “Deployment of In-Lake Phosphorus Sensors to Measure Nutrient Loads: Initial Data and Future Plans;” and Rick Relyea, of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, on “The Jefferson Project: Integrating Science and Technology for Enduring Lake Protection.” Presentations will be followed by a Q-and-A session with audience members invited to submit questions in chat. This event, sponsored by the Friends of the Chautauqua Writers’ Center, is modeled on the initiative introduced to Chautauqua by the former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky. The Smith Memorial Library is now open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT on weekdays, and from noon to 3 p.m. EDT on Saturdays. Capacity is limited, face coverings are required, and social distancing rules apply. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, and computers and office services are available on a limited basis. Enhanced sanitization and book-quarantine protocols are in place, and touchless browsing is encouraged. Safe return bins will be located throughout the Smith. Any transactions will be contact-free, and the preferred payment is exact change. While newspapers are currently unavailable, magazines may be checked out by request. Rescheduled Contemporary Issues Forum lecture
Megan Smith, co-founder and CEO of shift7 and former U.S. chief technology officer will deliver the first Chautauqua Women’s Club Contemporary Issues Form lecture of the season at 3:30 p.m. EDT Friday, July 10, on the CHQ Assembly Video Platform. This lecture was originally scheduled to be broadcast at 3:30 p.m. EDT Tuesday, July 7, but was postponed due to technical difficulties.

Recitals with Rossen featuring JIJI
